3 top seeds snare boys' titles in Olivarez Sr. netfest

MANILA – Top seed Cristiano Matteo Calingasan dominated Yuan Andrei Torrente, 6-3, 6-3, to win the boys' 14-under title of the Dr. Pablo Olivarez Sr. National Juniors Tennis Championships at Olivarez Sports Center in Parañaque on Sunday.
Calingasan, a Grade 8 student at Catholic Filipino Academy-Quezon City, also earned the Most Valuable Player honor.
In the boys' 12-under finals, top seed Tyronne Grey Caro defeated second seed Yuan Andrei Torrente, 6-3, 6-3.
Third seed Jonathan Higa secured the boys' 18-under crown by beating fifth seed Gavin Kraut, 6-2, 6-2.
Meanwhile, in the boys' 16-under division, top seed Julio Yñigo Naredo overwhelmed second seed Alexandre Coyiuto, 6-0, 6-1.
Competition in the girls' division is scheduled Aug. 14 to 18. (PNA)
