Sims 4 Realm Of Magic Missed One Trick That Would Have Been A Game-Changer

Out of all the content packs for The Sims 4, the occult-themed ones are usually the ones that EA knows how to do best. With supernatural worlds, interesting items in Build Mode and Create-A-Sim, and, of course, the variety of engaging Live Mode features, the occult packs for The Sims 4 make the core game considerably more interesting. One pack that did this extremely well was The Sims 4 Realm Of Magic, which was released as a Game Pack in 2019. However, despite the pretty generous amount of content, it could definitely have been developed into an expansion pack.

The Sims 4 Realm of Magic game pack introduced plenty of exciting new features into the game. From the ability to become the occult type of Spellcaster, to learning new spells and brewing potions, not to mention the unique clothing and furniture items that came with this pack, Realm of Magic was the real deal. With a magical realm featuring a town similar to Harry Potter's Diagon Alley, Realm of Magic provides a lot of content to explore. However, the game could have been expanded with one feature that seemed to be missing from the pack: a magic school.

Sims 4 Realm Of Magic Needs Improvement For Magic Training

Great Concepts That Deserve More

The Sims 4 Realm of Magic Feature

While attending the Magic Realm and taking part in magical training with each of the three available tutors is part of the natural progression as a Spellcaster, The Sims 4 Realm of Magic lacks a magic school system that would have significantly elevated its experience. It feels that EA might have missed a trick here, sleeping on the opportunity to incorporate some sort of academy where Spellcasters could be enrolled to attend a variety of magical classes like potion-making, and classes specializing in each of the different categories of spells.

What A Full Expansion Pack Might Look Like

Although later expansion packs like High School Years had pros and cons in terms of the high school system, a similar system for Realm of Magic could have been quite a success. The path to completing the Spellcaster's knowledge in Realm of Magic can be completed relatively quickly, so adding in a system where they can attend various classes, engage in different magical extracurricular activities, and interact with other Spellcasters would have been beneficial to make the game pack into more of an expansion pack. Ultimately, fleshing this out could have improved the timelessness of its content.

While Realm of Magic is certainly up there in terms of The Sims 4's better content add-on packs, along with the likes of Vampires, Life & Death, and Werewolves, Realm of Magic can feel like its content quickly grows old. That being said, it doesn't have to be the end of The Sims 4's exploration of this territory.

With the market for a witchier style of cozy game growing progressively more popular over the last decade, along with EA's announcement that The Sims 4 will continue to be the core game for the franchise, an alternative and more developed version of Realm of Magic could hopefully be released in the future. The addition of a structured magic school system would not only be a fun Live Mode content add-on, but it would breathe some life into The Sims 4's base game itself.
